Support for Duffy's Cut Project

Posted: Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 06:33

Your support is needed for the continuation of a project to recover the remains of 50 Irish immigrants who in 1832 were ignominiously buried in a mass grave close to the railroad track that their brief lives in this country had been dedicated to building.

The site is known as “Duffy’s Cut” and it lies in the wooded hills approximately 30 miles west of Philadelphia. To date, seven of the original 57 bodies left at this site have been recovered and their remains provided a measure of dignity through proper burial.

The campaign to recover the bodies of the fifty men is nearing a successful conclusion. However, Amtrak has some concerns in the removal of the remaining bodies but the volunteer citizens group dedicated to this project have civil engineers who they believe can address these concerns.

Please sign the petition to support a workable solution so that recovery can continue by clicking the "Duffy's Cut project" link in the upper right section of our web page.
