2009 Hibernian Scholarship Winners Announced - Wednesday, April 01, 2009 at 17:57

AOH - Division 87 awards 6 scholarships each year to students in grades 8 through 11 who will be attending a Catholic High School the following school year.  All entrants must be children or grandchildren of Div 87 members.  Selection of winners is based on a researched essay that each student provides to the selection committee.  These scholarships provide financial assistance for the winners, encourages students to research Irish History, Culture, People and Events, and promotes Catholic High School Enrollment.

The 2009 Hibernian Scholarship winners are:
Michael Donahue
Michael Donnelly
Bridget Hanlon
Matt McIntyre
Colleen Marie Schindle
Lukas Vilella

Division 87 will send a $500 check to the Catholic High School that each student will be attending in September, and each winner will be invited to our Communion Breakfast to receive a Hibernian Scholarship Award Certificate containing their name, the amount of scholarship and the school they will be attending.
Education has been the main vehicle to steer the Irish from rag tattered refugees to captains of business and industry. Education has always been a priority for the Irish in America and it is in need of funding at the High School level. Education has been and will continue to be the touchstone that elevates the Irish people.

Congratulations to the 2009 Hibernian Scholarship winners.
